Adventure Quest Expeditions, LLC is owned and operated by Matthew Hahn.
Marine Curriculum Vitae
Matthew has over 30 years experience in operating marine vessels. He has been a license captain since
2007 and has thousands of documented sea days. He holds a USCG 50 Ton Near Coastal Master and a
100 Ton Inland Master Credential with Commercial Assistance Towing Endorsement and various other
engineering capacities.
He also holds ASA Certificates through Bareboat Cruising.
In support of his credentials he has an FCC Marine Radio Operators Permit, FCC Portable Ship Station
License and current Transportation Workers Identification Card.
Matthew has owned a variety of vessels and currently owns and operates a 430 Carver CMY power
vessel. He has operated vessels up to 100’ LOA, and has experience in various areas including New
England, Florida, Caribbean, Central America, Gulf of Mexico, the Hudson River, Erie Canal, the Great
Lakes and the Western Rivers System (Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Illinois, Tennessee, Tenn-Tom, and
Cumberland).
He is actively employed in the Marine Industry in a number of positions:
Pilot of the Grafton, IL Excursion boat, Hakuna Matata (summer position)
Captain with Conch Republic Divers in Tavernier, FL (winter position)
TowBoatUS tow boat captain with Port Charles Harbor in St. Charles, MO
Approved USCG Instructor and proctor with Worldwide Marine Training in Oriental, NC.
Approved USCG Instructor and proctor with US Captains Training
He is active in transporting vessels between ports for owners and brokerages requiring delivery and/or
training services. In this capacity he travels over 20,000 nm each year aboard varying vessels types and
configurations as either captain or mate. He also provides short-term captain and crew services for
owners and operators needing a master or mate on a temporary basis. Matthew has worked in this
capacity as a "fill in" captain for charter fishing and diving vessels in the Gulf of Alaska, Florida and the
Caribbean.
Delivery Captain
Matthew transports yachts between destinations on the Inland Rivers/Lakes and East Coast and Caribbean destinations. He has over 1000 delivery sea days operating and training owners on their vessels. He moves many vessels between Florida, Great Lakes and the Western River System each year and has over 15 transports between Florida and the Caribbean Islands and Central America in the past 4 years. Teaching Experience
Matthew provides USCG authorized training for persons seeking OUPV (6 Pack), Master of Vessel and
Towing Endorsements as defined by 46 CFR 11.903(a)(24), 46 CFR 10.227(e)(1)(iii) and 46 CFR
10.227(i)(1). He is a senior instructor with World Wide Marine Training of Oriental, NC and has over 400
8-hour teaching days. He has been actively instructing in the marine industry since 2009. He has
instructed and proctored over 3000 current licensed mariners.
Matthew is a certified PADI Master Instructor, Instructor Development Staff member, TDI Technical Scuba
Instructor and an Emergency First Responder Primary Care(CPR) and Secondary Care (First Aid)
Instructor Trainer. He has been teaching scuba diving since 2003 and has been a Dive Master since
1982. He teaches scuba diving classes from Basic Open Water through Closed Circuit Rebreather
Technical Diving. He has certified over 500 students in various levels of scuba diving.
Business Experience
Matthew holds a BS degree from Western Illinois University (Honors). He is retired Chief Information
Officer for PDS Tech, Inc, one of the largest Engineering Staffing companies in the USA
